Spring 2017 - West Coast of Scotland

Great week despite the weather, and we even went up a couple of hills.

After a night in Muasdale we headed up the coast, investigating many nooks and crannies.  Stopped to look at the Kilberry Stones.  Quite liked it around Ormsary, but no houses for sale.

Stopped for lunch at Scotnish on the road to Tayvallich.  No houses for sale there either (that suited us).

Took a drive out to Aird Jetty down from Ardfern - very nice but no houses for sale.  At least there was no rain or snow.

Very pretty though.  Made it as far as The Cuilfail Hotel in Kilmelford on the first day.  Normal journey time 1 hour 18 minutes!

The next day we continued our coastal exploration, round Shian and this nice castle (out of our league, and not for sale).

Despite the rain and snow we made it to Port Appin in time for afternoon tea and a look at Lismore - but didn't get the ferry.
Ended up at Kinlochleven, normally our day's travel would take 1 hour 25!

On day three (Tuesday) we got a bit further, I think this is Glen Shiel, but....

We continued North, this is near the top of the Bealach na Ba, the famous road to Applecross.  It was cold!

Obligatory stop at the very top.  It was freezing.

The end of the Toscaig Road.  Very quiet.

Applecross Bay.

Heading North from Applecross the views were just stunning.

And it just kept getting better.  Torridon, looking just spectacular.

Torridon Inn -weather not improved.  Ended up here for the night, a full three hours drive from Kinlochleven (excluding Applecross).

The weather didn't stop us taking a scenic walk by Upper Loch Torridon (though we weren't out for long!)

The next day we had a walk part way up Meall a' Ghiuthais, which you can see by clicking here.

After our hillwalking we meandered up to Gairloch and Poolewe

Then a night at Kinlochewe, an impressive 22 minutes from the Torridon Inn!  On the Thursday we headed home for a rest after a quick walk for me up Beinn Bhan
