Ardnamurchan Summer Hols 2019

Wet and windy, just perfect for a spot of camping

Friday 31st May - lovely day for a drive up to Ardnamurchan to find a campsite for a few days away.

View from the pub.  Not too shabby. Wait til you see it with the tide in!

First treat of the weekend.  Pub was fully booked, but luckily the cafe was doing its late night (7pm) takeaways!  Welcome to Scotland.

Day two dawns - time to hit the hills.

Our route up Beinn Resipol, a good day out.

Reality kicks in!

Ruined mine buildings.

Finally we can see the hill, up there on the left.

Looking back towards Loch Shiel and the north.

Still living the dream

The top.  Didn't we do well.

Views not exactly worth while!

Back to base for a quick clean/dry out

Then the pub.  Tide in tonight.

Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, the most westerly point on the British mainland.

The small isles

On the way home, after catching up with John

Day three - a walk into Peanmeanach Bothy.

Somewhat unnecessary sign.

Quite splendid, despite the rain

Finally we arrive at the abandoned village

Still living the dream

Hikers and swimmers not pictured.  Lovely spot.

Then the walk back out.  Rain abated a little by now

All over now.

And relax

Final breakfast

Waiting on the ferry, in the sun!

Why are we leaving now that the sun is out?

Finally stopped off on the way home at the David Stirling Memorial after driving past it so many times.  What a guy
And that was the summer hols!
