Weekend of 8-10th August we visited the Lake District to catch up with the Davis's.

On the way down we stopped off so Shauna could get a pint.

Another car park.

And Lake Windermere, the largest Lake in England.  And very popular.

Only one person brave enough to go paddling.

Water Pixies?

Day Two - a walk around Rydal Water next to Grasmere

Happy ramblers

Old lady with suitcase not picutred.

A pub that we didn't visit

Pooh sticks of course

Pretty,isn't it.

A little dingly dell

Cumbrian Sheep - very odd

Contemplating a literary pond

Not such a good view when you sit down.

Does this make sense?

A graveyard in Grasmere

Not everyone was into graveyards to the same extent.

Scafell Pike, England's highest hill is up there somewhere - this is the closest we got, at the head of the Great Langdale.  Maybe next time?

On the way back we decided to get the ferry over Windermere rather than motor round.

And home to bed - now get out of my room.

Yes, on day three we visited Beatrix Potter world - enchanting!

She even had  a garden.

And finally a visit to the famous waterfall whose name escapes me now.

Happy families # 1

Happy families # 2

So hope it's not quite so long before we manage to catch up again.
