Rome - The Eternal City

Plenty of walking, and loads to see - a great holiday

DAY THREE - RELAX A BIT (BUT NOT TOO MUCH)

Market in Piazza Farnese - the place to get a hat.

Art in Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi ( a Bernini apparently), with a Borromini designed church behind.

Farewell Piazza.

Pasquino - one of the "talking statues".

The Pantheon - A Roman relic not in ruins, and most impressive.  Technical talk here

Marble floor - very nice and apparently original too.

And out we go

Nearby was Bernini's Elephant Statue - depicting that fact that strength should support wisdom.

Scooters

Another Trevi fountain visit.  Hear all about it here from some knowledgeable person.

Can we get enough out for an ice cream?

Spanish Steps - busy at the bottom.

Tourists chilling.

Not so busy at the top.

Villa Medici in the background, at the top of the Steps
Overlooking Piazza del Popolo at the Pincio Gardens, before heading into the Villa Borghese park for a rest.

Galleria Borghese, sadly not open.

Another fountain

And another - this one is the Fontana delle Naiadi - all languishing nymphs and sea monsters - that is the fountain I am talking about.  Piazza della Repubblica.

And finally home again.  Tiring work this having fun.

WHERE TO NEXT?

DAY ONE - Everywhere
